DIR Floortime® Parent Training Program

Our 12-week DIR Floortime® parent training program is designed to help you build meaningful connections with your child while supporting their social, emotional, and communication development. DIR Floortime® is a relationship-based approach that follows your child’s lead and interests, creating opportunities for growth through playful interactions. This program is particularly beneficial for parents of children with autism or other developmental differences, providing practical strategies to foster your child’s developmental progress in a natural, supportive environment.

Through this program, you will:

  • Learn how to engage with your child in a way that builds trust and strengthens your bond

  • Support your child’s emotional regulation and self-advocacy skills

  • Discover ways to follow your child’s lead and use their natural interests to encourage communication and social development

  • Understand the different developmental stages and how to meet your child where they are

  • Gain tools to create meaningful, playful interactions that help your child learn and grow

More Than Words®

Created specifically for parents of autistic children or children with other social pragmatic differences, the More Than Words® program provides you with practical strategies for addressing your child’s specific needs and building their communication and social skills during everyday routines and play.

More Than Words® does this by empowering you to help your child reach the following three goals:

  1. Improved social communication and back-and-forth interactions

  2. Improved play skills

  3. Improved imitation skills

Here are some of the valuable things you’ll learn when you attend the More Than Words® program:

  • What motivates your child to communicate

  • How to use your knowledge about your child to set appropriate and realistic goals

  • How to make interactions with your child last longer

  • Tips for using pictures and print to help your child’s understanding

  • Strategies for how to talk so that your child understands you

  • Strategies for developing your child’s play skills

  • Ways to help you connect with your child

It Takes two to talk®

This program is specifically designed for parents of children with language delays. In a comfortable small-group setting, you’ll learn practical strategies to help build your child’s language skills naturally during everyday routines and activities.

The It Takes Two to Talk® program teaches you, step-by-step, how to become your child’s most important language teacher. The program shows you how to:

  • Recognize your child’s stage and style of communication so that you know which steps to take next

  • Identify what motivates your child to interact with you so you’ll know how to get conversations started

  • Adjust everyday routines to help your child take turns and keep interactions going

  • Follow your child’s lead to build their confidence and encourage him to communicate

  • Add language to interactions with your child to help them understand language and then use it when he is ready

  • Tweak the way you play and read books with your child to help them learn language

  • Change the way you speak to your child so that they’ll understand and learn new words
