“I have had the pleasure of working with Maribel for my daughters significant speech delays, from age 2 to 3 years old, thanks to GGRC. She loves working with young children, and I could see this. Each time we met with her she was genuinely enthusiastic and energetic in her approach with my child, making my child easily want to engage with her. Most importantly she didn’t see deficits in my child, she saw her potential.
From a parents perspective, Maribel made me feel supported on what would be / is a long road with a toddler with delays. She always had time to listen and answer my concerns and questions about anything - from the IEP process, possible evaluations for speech disorders, suggestions on my daughters daycare placement (special day class vs. inclusion class), feeding therapy, you name it. Maribel is very knowledgeable about her field, and provides insight into other early intervention therapies. She is also down to earth.
Through the introduction of parenting interactions included in the Hanen program, sign language, parent coaching, play without the need for fancy toys, and questions such as “How can you enter your child’s world, so that you can open up the lines of communication and have your child engage with you?” Maribel will coach you to be a better, more engaged parent so that you can support your child in the acquisition of language.” – J.C.
“Maribel is not only knowledgeable and professional, she is extremely compassionate and kind. She was a pivotal support to us during a time when we didn’t know what to do to help our son. With patience and compassion, she helped us navigate our new life post diagnosis. Maribel taught us invaluable strategies that have allowed us to engage with our autistic son, to understand his motivators (and his triggers) and to better support his communication. We are forever grateful to you, Maribel for generously giving so much of your time and energy to our son and to us. Thank you with all our hearts!” – N.H
“Transitioning was a difficult process and finding my true authentic voice took a lot of work. Maribel was there for me every step of the way. She was compassionate and patient with me when I wanted to give up and taught me to trust the process and to be gentle and patient with myself. The hard work paid off and I now have a voice that matches my identity. I am so thankful to Maribel for helping me achieve this,” – C.D.
“Maribel is an amazing therapist! We found her through a local mother’s group and were fortunate enough to connect with her. She guided us through the GGRC process so that our child could be evaluated without it costing us a dime. We worked together for close to 1 year and in that time our child made monumental progress. Maribel taught us how to play with her to help her develop her language and coached us through a lot of interactions. The hard work paid off because she went from having less than 15 single words to gaining hundreds of words and was combining 3-5 words by the time she aged out of GGRC.” – M.B.
